The Port Washington Lions Club, with 100 years of service in the community, is one of the oldest Lions Clubs on Long Island, NY. Chartered in 1925, the PW Lions was the first service club in the community. The Club has raised and distributed over a million dollars for community organizations and events, for education and children’s programs, and to further the mission of the Lions to assist the blind and visually impaired. Special and continuing involvement and activities include working with numerous community organizations, the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults, the Guide Dog Foundation, the Eyeglass donation program, donating to food banks, giving scholarships to local students, and the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island.
While carrying on the traditions and greatness of the PW Lions, the Club has committed itself to a renewed and energized involvement in the community and the Lions mission. New Club members are breathing energy into the Club, and we are immersing ourselves in projects that are fun and invigorating yet of substantial service.
The International Lions has challenged all Lions Clubs to follow their dreams. Our dream and our goal is to serve the Port Washington community, and to reach to where we can make a difference. It is through service, through giving back some of what we have been so lucky to receive, in which the Lions find our true identity.
